Resident Evil 5 (WTF)

So... what can I say about Resident Evil 5. Well, it's a Resident Evil game so that should give you an idea of what it is, now, I have always been a fan of Zombies and I love it when people try to make unique Zombies and the way Resident Evil handled it, especially in one of my favourite games Operation Raccoon City, I thought they did it very well, I enjoyed the game and I loved the way it worked..... in 5 however, I struggle to find myself believing these are Zombies or rather, a new breed of B.O.W which Resident Evil has a lot of, in great variety, don't get me wrong.

Resident Evil 5 to me feels... not really like a Survival Horror game which Resident Evil seemed to be about. It is the beginning, in the beginning it is a fight for survival but not in the same realm as say Minecraft or How To Survive. Now, before anyone rages at me for comparing Resident Evil to Minecraft, I'm going off of the survival element only, that is the only comparison I am making. Minecraft has you crafting and building and hunting to survive... Resident Evil has you using sprays that heal you.

Now, that is true to the original games, so I give them props for that, but I wish there were more Survival elements, like in Dead Rising how you can combine weapons, something to make the survival aspect more... survival like I guess. Now... this brings me to my second BIGGEST problem with the game, only the second.

WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO MY RESIDENT EVIL!? After several chapters in the game, it turns from basically a Horde mode shooting gallery with some interesting and unique bosses, even if the battles do feel the same. To, a shooter, literally, you start having gun fights with the Infected. Now, I actually like the idea of Zombies using guns, but I don't think having them use cover and TALK! Is alright, but then again. I'm not sure the enemies in Resident Evil 5 are actually Zombies, I think they are more along the lines of B.O.Ws if I am honest.

Now, I'll save my biggest problem and it is big, this caused me to rage out for several weeks because I love Resident Evil, and I felt this was a mistake on everyone's side.
Before that however, let's get onto some of the other aspects. In single-player the A.I partner Sheva is completely useless, she will often use vital and scarce healing herbs on minor wounds when they heal about 50% percent of your health. Along with other problems such as her getting in your way during tight areas and walking into your line of fire when in a fire fight.
Co-Op does get rid of these problems but you are still faced with incredibly stiff controls, it's like you yourself are a Zombie, with how stiff you move around.
I do like how you been conserve ammo, it does add this depth of survival to the game where you will be swarmed by enemies and need to focus on getting the head shots. But, in this game even those might not finish off your enemies.

NOW! We come to my main problem with this game and this is purely my problem with the game, I don't know if other people feel the same way and the game has been out long enough that I feel there aren't any spoilers in me saying this but, the final fight against the returning antagonist Albert Wesker, my favourite character in the Resident Evil series, is BORING!
It is the same move around and stay out of his way so he cannot hit you. Basically the same as the other fights you have with him, except in the final fight, he doesn't do that cool. Matrix style phase shifting to dodge bullets. He just soaks them up like a sponge. It's boring, not deserving of what

Albert Wesker is, which, in my own opinion, is the same as what Pyramid Head is to Silent Hill, he's the face of the series, he's the main villain.
Not to mention the fact you kill him by shooting him in the face with RPG rockets in a volcano, reminded me a little of that James Bond enemy but I cannot remember the name... Goldfinger I think but don't quote me on it.

I wish, they had done something more with Wesker, I liked what happened to him at the end of the game, I liked how he fused with the Uroboros and became this evolved version of himself, but I hated how boring the fight was and how he lost some of the abilities that made him Wesker.
I know you can play as his son in the sequel and apparently, he can use some of his father's abilities but not to the same standard.

Anyway, I felt like I have said all I can, if you are a fan of Resident Evil, I'd recommend a buying the game at a reduced price, possibly a rental only if you can find one. Or, watch Yogscast Hannah and Duncan and I'm sure many others play through the game on YouTube to see it for yourselves.
Resident Evil 5 in my own opinion, is by no means a "terrible" game, but between the stiff controls, the cheesy dialogue and the down right insulting end to my favourite character of the series Albert Wesker, I can only and I WILL only give Resident Evil 5 a 5/10.

It is average at best on single player, if not for memories sake of some old faces returning, it would of been lower, possibly a 3. Co-op does improve the game, I will admit, I'd recommend playing the game with a friend to get rid of the pointless companion A.I. In Co-op, the game is at best a 6/10. Above average but nothing special.

If they had smoother controls, better A.I for single player and a god-damned BETTER WESKER FIGHT, the game might of gotten, for me at least a 8/10, possibly a 9. Anyway guys, this has been OniOfTaint, this has been my "late" review of Resident Evil 5 but by now, you can probably guess I wasn't in the best of moods to review this title at the time.... Sayonara.

How To Survive Storm Warning Edition

How to Survive Storm Warning Edition is a game I am utterly enjoying right now for a few reasons. It is a survival game in one of the truest senses, you pick between one of four characters Kenji, Nina, Abby and Jack. Each character has different traits and stats and while the perks are universal, there are some unique perks that are only for a particular character.

You start the game waking up on a beach after you've become ship wrecked if you've chosen the story mode, it is then your job to help other survivors, gathering supplies to make armour, weapons and make sure you don't starve, die of thirst or even just pass out from lack of sleep.

You will always be on your toes as there are many different enemy types that will cause you to adjust your strategy and even some of the common Walkers will be wearing helmets or body armour, forcing you to change your strategy again.

I haven't been able to play the multi-player because it doesn't seem that there isn't that many people playing it at the moment or maybe it's just terrible connection I don't know. One thing I will add, is in the mode Barricade where you have to survive against wave after wave of night horrors, you will notice some Zombies that have a yellow name above their heads, those names are the gamer tags of other players who fell, which I find as a nice touch.

For it's retail, download price on the Xbox One of £16 pounds it is well worth the money and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good, challenging survival experience.

Anyway guys, this has been OniOfTaint and I'll bid you all sayonara.

Five Night's At Freddy's 2 (Revisited)

Hello again readers, tonight I thought we'd revisit FNAF2 (Five Nights At Freddy's 2) the reason I want to revisit the game is because I recently saw the demo of the game played by one of, if not my favourite YouTuber Markiplier.

Now, I say demo loosely as I do believe the public demo is yet to be released but never the less, I wanted to revisit this game as I could only give ideas and speculations in my last post by it.

Five Nights At Freddy's from what I hear has come under fire as a "jump scare barrage" I would just like to clear a little something up. Five Nights At Freddy's in my mind, this is purely my own opinion. The game sets you alone, you cannot move more to the point, you cannot escape. Your only hope is to survive against a relentless cast of synthetic characters.

Now, Five Nights At Freddy's the first one was called and praised as one of the best horror games of it's time and possibly all time... this is because of a certain reason. First off, Horror when it comes to popularity is almost in the same boat as comedy. What is funny for one person is not going to be funny for someone else, same with horror.

Markiplier stated in a video that he has a fear of machines that try to mimic a Human like appearance, such as the Working Joes in Alien Isolation.

Gajin Goomba as well, sated he couldn't play the game for too long due to a fear from his childhood coming up.

This is what I mean, there will always be something that will scare someone more than someone else, I, myself as a child had an extreme fear of the dark, I could swear I could hear things and see things in the dark that terrified me and to this day, I still have this fear but it isn't as strong as it used to be. There is also the fact I am not used to playing Horror games. I have played Survival games and Stealth games along with Zombie games but never a proper, heavily focused Horror Game.

I have done and are continuing to do a Playlist on Slender the 9 Pages. Slenderman is a Creepy Pasta character that has come under some very heavy fire from various people and I will discuss this in a later blog post possibly.

Fear affects people differently, and if you take someone who could barely play FNAF like Gajin Goomba and you put them in the sequel where you have the 2.0 versions of the cast along with the originals coming after you. No doors to lock to keep you safe even for a few seconds, and that your only place to hide is in the very thing that was the tool for your demise in the first one, you can imagine what would happen.

Apologies that I have gotten off topic but I've gotten it out of my system but now back to the game. As I mentioned earlier, the original cast are still in the game along with the 2.0 versions. that's 8 machines now, Freddy, Freddy 2.0, Chica, Chica 2.0, Bonnie, Bonnie 2.0, Foxy and The Mangle. Now, there is also Golden Freddy who, as far as I know, is hinted at in the game and does seem to appear but rarely.

The Puppet, something I like and dislike for different reasons, the reason I dislike it is because if it comes into your office, you are dead. No way to hide, the only other character who seems to be able to do this is as you would expect, Foxy from the original cast. The way these two characters work is different however, and this is where I LOVE the idea of The Puppet but I can understand where people will hate it.

In the game, you will be attacked by the cast of characters both old and new and The Puppet is an instant kill. How you do stop The Puppet from killing you, playing a music box in the Prize Corner room, if that music box runs out, you are dead, that is it.

As the game progresses, it gets more and more difficult, meaning, it becomes more and more stressful and combining that with needing to keep the music box playing so The Puppet stays asleep or rather distracted, than it is beautifully done, it can become stressful and it can become something of a rage fuel but, so is the game.

Now, there's the inclusion of the character Balloon Boy, I'm a little bit split on Balloon Boy, it doesn't kill you and serves to purely hassle you and cause you to be unable to turn on your flashlight, which gives the other characters time to move around mess up your plans and throw you off your game. I love it, not to mention when he's visible in your office he comes out with a very creepy "Hello".

Anyway, I've got a headache and I'm not feeling too well so I will stop rambling and put a link in the description to the FNAF playlist by Markiplier, if he does a playlist for the sequel I'll post that in too later if he doesn't have one already.

Anyway, take care guys and if you have the chance, I highly recommend Five Nights At Freddy's 1 and 2. Have a goodnight, this has been OniOfTaint and I bid you all, sayonara.

Titanfall

Titanfall, what am I to say about Titanfall. Well, I'll start with some of the things I enjoy about the game. For what the game is which is pretty much a FPS MMO for consoles, it is actually pretty well done.

The game's multi-player in my mind is what this game was made for, it was made to be an online, multi-player game and it shows me pretty well. The game play is smooth and it rarely lags but I will admit, I have had my own lag spikes in the game and it can be annoying.

It reminds me of Quake Wars while a while ago but without the single player mode for the story, which is actually one my biggest issues with the game. The game actually doe have a campaign mode but unlike Quake or Brink, the game's campaign isn't really a campaign and it doesn't feel like a story mode.

The game's story I have no clue how it works or what comes first because there isn't a set advancement system for the campaign mode, you enter the lobby, you wait for players and the play a random mission as either IMC or Militia and I find it very disappointing that they didn't include a single player mode for the sake of story.

Now onto the multi-player issues, one of my biggest issues comes from the gamemode Frontier Defence, it's a featured game mode and won't be around for ever but, one of the enemies in it are Suicide Spectres (Robots) and they make no noise when they run, none.

It is VERY annoying when you're in a position and you're trying to defend the Harvester and suddenly you die because a silent Suicide Spectre ran up behind you and exploded, more than often, I have found myself annoyed by it.

Personal note, I like Titanfall and it does have it's pro's and con's like all games but while I do enjoy it and will continue to play the game, I am very disappointed by it in the aspects I have mentioned and more.

I would give Titan fall a 5/10 because it is a good game, the gameplay is smooth, the graphics are good but there are areas of the game where, if you are like me, it will disappoint you.

Anyway, this has been OniOfTaint and this has been my review on Titanfall, have a good Saturday and as always, sayonara.

Five Night's At Freddy's 2

As a fan of the Five Nights At Freddy's game, I was very excited and curious about the direction the developer Scott Cawthon took the second game. From the teaser trailer and the pictures I was confused about what exactly is going on in the second game however, this isn't a review because the game is yet to be released. This is what I believe is happening in the game.

From what I can tell, it takes place a time after the first game, considering the state of the 1.0 versions of the machines. The 1.0 versions are abandoned and in a more degraded state. Bonnie for example even has the top of his head ripped off but the eyes of his exo-skeleton can still be seen, glowing menacingly.

Also, the new 2.0 versions I am wondering exactly what their purpose is. From what I hear, they may not be linked to the 1.0 versions and may in fact just be normal machines, possibly a counter to the 1.0 machines. In my mind, I would like to see if this is correct, if the 2.0 versions are in fact the reason the 1.0 machines are as battered as they are.

It is possible that the 2.0 machines will not attack the protagonist when he isn't in the Freddy mask. Where as the original 1.0 machines will still kill the protagonist if they see him so it could become challenging. Having to enter and then exit the mask when a 1.0 machine leaves and a 2.0 machine enters.

Considering there are more areas in the setting for the machines to hide along with the inclusion of the vents. It definitely seems that there will be more unpredictability to the game.

Anyway, it is possible I am completely wrong or I might in fact have gotten it right. I urge anyone who is a fan of the first game to play this one and discover exactly what the game holds for yourselves. This is OniOfTaint and this has been my ideas of what Five Nights At Freddy's could be. Let me know what you think and what you would like the second game to have or add to it. Anyway, for now I bid you all sayonara.

Always Sometimes Monsters

If you love the game series Sims then this game will feel like second nature to you, while it isn't as complex as the Sims in the sense of taking care of your character(s) needs, you will still see elements of the series.

The game focuses on you, an aspiring writer getting a big break but at a cost, your life then takes a dark turn and the game is whatever you decide to do, there is no direct path to what you pick, the game is a choose your own adventure one.

I love this game for the sheer replay aspect of it, being able to restart the game and do something different to see how it would of affected the outcome. I don't want to spoil much about the game as it is a choose your own adventure game so I will leave you with this. Play the game and experience it for yourself.

This has been OniOfTaint and this has been my Always Sometimes Monsters review, I will bid you all, sayonara.

Alien Isolation

The game Alien Isolation is a game that I have seen several videos on, both trailers and game-play and I do intend to purchase and play this game for myself for the sole reason that I am a massive Alien fan.

The game was, in my own mind doubted upon during the beginning due to many people saying Alien Colonial Marines is a game that should just be generally avoided.

I have played the AVP game that was released in 2010 and I did play the strategy insert of the AVP series Alien VS Predator Extinction which, in my own opinion is one of my all time favorite games.

Getting back to Isolation, it is a game that goes back to the roots of the Alien series, focusing on the first film rather than anything else, the graphics are incredibly beautiful and suite the setting of when the film was made and released perfectly.

One of the main features for me enjoying this game a great deal, is the way, like in the very first film of the series, there is only one Alien and it hunts you throughout the game and as you'd expect, there are other dangerous which are more numerous than the Alien but it is by far the most dangerous. In the lore as far as I know, the Aliens were meant to be the perfect killers although, this may be false as of Prometheus.

Anyway, the A.I of the enemies is very good especially with the Alien, without spoiling I will explain what I mean. The Alien will hunt you but she will never stick to the same pattern of hunting, while she may patrol certain areas she will adapt so, best keep on your toes.

Anyway, Alien Isolation is definitely on my must play list and I would rate it 10/10.

This has been OniOfTaint, this has been my Alien Isolation review and I will bid you all sayonara.
